Prenatal Visits
Parents are welcome to come for a prenatal or pre-adoption visit to meet with us and see the office. It is natural to have lots of questions that we can answer and try to put your mind at ease! There is no charge for this visit. Call to schedule a conference before you deliver or expand your family through adoption. This visit allows expectant parents to find out where we are and an opportunity to meet us.

Upon Arrival
We see newborns at Fairview Southdale Hospital. We will check on your baby everyday that you are in the hospital. If you are delivering at any other hospital don’t worry! Ask the hospital to send us the discharge paperwork. If there are any concerns during your hospital stay, I encourage you to call the office to discuss the concerns.

Before your baby leaves the hospital, the nurses will check the baby’s hearing and will check the bilirubin level for early signs of jaundice. The first Hepatitis B vaccine can be given routinely. If your baby is a boy, he can be circumcised if you so choose.  They will also take a small amount of blood from your baby’s heel to check for a variety of inherited diseases through the Department of Health. They have a very good system to inform us if  your baby’s screen is positive and I will arrange for further testing.

Typically you will be asked to bring your baby to the office 3-5 days after you are discharged from the hospital. The next visit will be when your baby is 2 weeks old. Immunizations are given when your baby is 2 months old.

Explore our Resources section for some great tips on newborn care.

Again, Congratulations! Enjoy this exciting time.
